Sinister Shoes

So I don't usually post about fashion or similarly related topics, but I thought this site deserved some credit.  Sent to me by my artistic (and of course goth influenced) sister Paige, www.sinistersoles.com is ballroom filled with wonderfully creative demonic designs.

Specializing in super-low prices and a unique industrial/gothic influenced style, this Philadelphia based site has a large array of sexy footwear for both men and women.  From glitter to zombie inspired shoes, this site showcases ridiculously creative talent!

Even if these styles are not quite up your alley, I would definitely still check out the site.  At the very least, you'll have the chance to satisfy your senses and hey, you never know when a shoe like this might come in handy.

Here are some of my favourites!

Social Responsibility

A couple of months ago I posted a commentary entitled powerful controversy. This post was meant to be a discussion on a few of today's very controversial, yet compelling advertisement campaigns.  Last night my sister sent me a link to a similar post regarding some seriously captivating advertisements. This post, which was on a site for graphic design inspiration called tutorart, had several very interesting ads that I thought everyone should see. Thoughts?

Excursion Around The Bay

No matter where my siblings and I lived growing up, the walls were always covered in the ever present talents of my mother.  In fact, for as long as I can remember, I have been surrounded by her beautiful paintings of Western Canadian landscape and the shores of Newfoundland.

Using primarily acrylic paints, my mom Mary Reynolds is strongly influenced by her Newfie roots and has covered every area of the province from Brigus to St. John's.  She started painting long before I was born and has continued right up until today.  Recently expanding in to other medians, Mary has begun exploring different forms of art and can paint just about anything you heart desires. My own apartment today is even filled with an array of her paintings, as she has blessed her family and friends with a constant stream of her work.

My mother's artistic skill have clearly had a lasting impression on my family and I, and I am so happy to have such a wonderfully talented woman in my life.  Though Mary does not have a website, I am happy to provide you with any information if  you are interested in her art!

Fishfull Thinking

'Tribune Bay' Hornby Island BC Darryl Albert

As you may know, I am an avid lover of independent art.  Accordingly, I consider myself extremely lucky to have such an array of talented artists in my life.  I've already written about two very unique artists, my sister Paige Reynolds and my friend Gabriel Koury. With so many more to mention however, I plan on dedicating several of my upcoming posts to some of the fantastically creative people I know.

To start, I wanted share with you a family of artists who have recently entered my life.  This family is so unbelievably talented, it's hard to put in to words.  What's more - they are also some of the most inviting, gracious, caring, loving and supportive people that I know.  My very good friend Liv Albert, who introduced me to this clan, is the eldest daughter and quite the amazing acrylic painter.  Her little sister Jessica Albert is also incredible at all things art and has a whole collection of paintings and drawings to prove it.

Darryl Albert, their dad, is a full time professional watercolourist who's detailed work captures the tranquility and nature of the West Coast through vibrant colours and playful spontaneity. The first time I saw his work I was absolutely blown away and quickly became the proud owner of some of his work.

If any of you are interested in seeing more, head on over to Darryl albert's website here.

P.S I can't forget Marilyn who is a wonderful mother and friend and yet another fantastic part of the family.

Fade Away And Radiate

Alright so it turns out that Twitter is a fascinating social media tool.  After months of refusing to sign up, ironically, it is now consuming all of my online time.  (@nicoleyrey … you know you want to follow me ) Accordingly, hours spent updating my blog have dwindled over the past several weeks and I thought I should just let you all know (because I clearly have a million followers) that I am still alive.

In light of this very exciting return to my blog, I wanted to write about an equally boring thrilling event. My long awaited return to blonde locks.  Don't get me wrong, I loved being brunette for almost 10 months, dark hair is HOT! ( proven to me by many of my dark haired super babe friends)… but I guess I bore quite easily and was ready for a brand new do.

Super babe Liv
Super babe Essa
Super babe Stace

So the process was long. 5 hours to be exact. Turns out dark brown box dye does not come out as easily as I had planned.  So alas, since they did not want to completely destroy my hair - the result is a kinda dark blonde, super au natural looking colour.  Should be back to fully blonde by my next appointment but i'm liking this for now!

P.S (I Have a ton more super hot brunettes in my life, but I couldn't put every picture, in fear of creepy randoms beginning to come to my site for the wrrrooonngggg reasons! lol. You are all the hottest!)

Where the Heart is

I've been through a lot of stuff in my 23 years of life.  Havn't we all.

It is important to me though that the bad stuff never remerge back in to the beautiful life I have started to create for myself. So when I see something starting to slip, I have to remind myself of what is important to me, and make sure that those things and those people are the most important parts of my every day.

I have to remember to hold my head high and move my life forward in positive ways that will add happiness and value to my future.

Right now, I have to forget about the things that make me angry and tell myself that these are the petty things, and that I cannot ever move backwards because of them.

My head is where it should be, I hope my heart goes there soon.
