The Velvet Teen

Mansfield Trip

I cleaned out my desk this week and found a bunch of old old pictures from High/ Middle School.  I think i'll keep most of them for my own eyes but here's a few that I thought I would share.

Happy Dino Day

Ya ya, I know, Valentine's Day is a silly excuse for a holiday.  Personally, I love those in my life all year long, and don't need any one day in particular to express how I feel about them. I am however still fascinated by kiddy Valentine's Day cards, and definitely bought a bunch this year.  My favourite: Google Eye Monster Cards.  So happy 'whatever day you want it to be', I love you all.

The Best Place on Earth

Newfoundland has always been a huge part of my life.  Growing up, I spent every summer there creating beautiful memories with my large extended family.  I've haven't had the chance to return for a few years now, and I'm missing it more and more everyday.  I hope to take a trip there soon but until then, looking at old pictures keeps the memories alive.

Frills & Morbidity

As i'm sure you know by now, I'm insanely proud of my wonderfully talented sister Paige Reynolds. I've posted about her art a few times before, but I haven't had the chance to mention one of her more recent endeavours, Frills & Morbidity.  This disturbingly luxurious business venture involves a high quality, original jewellery line designed and handmade exclusively by Paige.  Working from home, Paige creates classically beautiful necklaces, chokers, earrings, bracelets and hair accessories. The jewelery features much of her own artwork as well as other amazing artists including Justin EricksonGary Pullin, and James Fisher. Please visit the Frills & Morbidity Etsy Shop to view more of her jewelery designs and to see how you can make a purchase today!

Fotofloor

La Vie en Rose Sylvia Hoeks
In light of my post on Angelique Houtkamp, I thought that I'd  stick with the theme and blog about some of her friends.  On her website, Angelique mentions several equally talented and crafty individuals.  One in particular that  caught my eye is a remarkable photographer from Holland named Floor.

As described on her website, Floor's work is varied in nature.  As a photographer she captures everything from fashion and celebrities to commercial works and art-projects.  Her work has been featured in magazines all over the world including La Vie en Rose and Avantgarde man. In my opinion, the colourful and playful aura arising from her prints make it hard to look away.  I'm featuring her work here in particular because the images are so beautiful they light up every time I look at them.  Go to her website HERE to see more.

Branching

I've finally expanded my shoe collection to include leather military-inspired mid-calf boots.  This is very exciting considering I have been wearing some kind of converse almost every day for the last four years.  I thought these were really cool, and since I had a $150 gift certificate to the mall I thought it warranted the purchase. Go to Aldoshoes.com to check out their Spring collection.
